Proofreading

Proofreading is the final polish, enabling you to publish with confidence knowing that your readers aren’t going to be distracted by irritating typos and spelling mistakes. If your work has already been professionally edited and revised, this is the last thorough review where I’ll look for any errors which have slipped through or been more recently introduced. This includes the following checks:

  • spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • clarity of meaning
  • consistency of style
  • typography
  • formatting

Proofreading rates start at 10€ per 1000 words, depending on the length and complexity of the text and the level of intervention required.

‘I still marvel at the level of detail unearthed by the scrutiny she applied consistently over the whole novel. No errant comma was missed and no section of text was left leaving the reader puzzled by the meaning.’

William V Kelly, author Until the Fat Man Sings, Place in the Sun

How it works

For proofreading, I use Word Track Changes. You’ll receive your work clearly marked up with any corrections or queries, so you can see exactly what I’ve done.

If you’re not familiar with Track Changes or other useful Word tools such as Styles, just let me know and I’ll provide you with some clear and helpful resources.

Payment

If the total fee is more than 100€, or to reserve a slot in advance, a deposit of 50% is required with the balance due on completion. Otherwise, payment is due in advance unless previously agreed. The minimum charge is 30€.

For other information, including cancellation, please ask for a copy of my terms and conditions. If your work is urgent and requires me to work unsociable hours – early mornings, evenings or weekends – then I can be flexible but my rates will be higher accordingly.

I am registered in Spain as autónomo and, in accordance with Spanish law, my fees are inclusive of IVA (21%). I accept payment by bank transfer to my Spanish bank account.
